here are some tips to help you on the technological level. feel free to reach out to us if you find something missing and you’d like us to cover it.
1/ got to the apple/play store and type “Telegram” in the search bar to find the app listing.
2/ click on “install” to start the download and open it once it finishes installing.
4/ enter your country code and your phone number to login/register. you will receive an authentication code to confirm it.
5/ click on the link in your invite to join the campfire channel.
1/ go to the app store on your laptop and type “Telegram desktop” in the search bar to find the app listing.
2/ click on the “get” button to start the download and open it once it finishes installing from the app folder.
3: once the Telegram window opens, click on “start messaging”.
4/ enter your country code and your phone number to login/register. you will receive an authentication code to confirm it.
5/ click on the link in your invite to join the campfire channel.
1/ open Telegram.
2/ open settings by tapping on the 3 bars and choosing settings.
3/ navigate to ”privacy and security” and then further to ”phone number”.
under “who can see my phone number,” you have three options to choose from:
- my contacts: only allow people in your contacts (saved on your phone) to see your phone number.
- nobody: hide your phone number from everybody.
- everybody: make your phone number visible to everybody who starts chatting with you (just like WhatsApp).
we recommend the first two options.
1/ on the Telegram app, open the group chat you want to adjust the notifications for.
2/ click on the 3 dots on the top right of your screen and choose ”mute”.
3/ here you can:
- disable sound: the notifications will show but it will not trigger the notification sound to go off.
- mute for…: here you can choose if you’d like to stop receiving the notifications for a certain amount of time (from 30 minutes to 1 year).
- customize: gives you more freedom to choose the general, pop-up, and light settings.
- mute forever: you will not receive notifications from that group chat.
we understand that you cannot always take part in the conversation but we encourage you to only mute/customize it for a specific amount of time so you can check back in later.
1/ open the group chat you want to save messages from.
2/ long-press on a specific message to select it.
3/ choose “forward” and “saved messages”.
the “saved messages” folder is pinned to the top of your contacts list, and it's fully searchable if you delve into it—you can store as much here as you like.
